Qld: Tragic family twist to murder mystery
BRISBANE, Feb 13 AAP - A man died in a car accident just days after his mother wasmurdered and dumped in a lagoon north of Brisbane.
Scott Crump, 23, died in a car accident on the Darling Downs last Friday, police said.
Two days later the body of his mother was found by swimmers in a lagoon near Gympie,weighted down with bricks.
The decomposed body of Erika Tomkinson, 41, also known as Erika Crump, showed she hadsuffered head injuries and other wounds. The body was believed to have been in the waterfor a week or more.
Police did not believe the car accident and murder were related, Channel Ten news reported.
Detective Senior Sergeant Darryl Johnson said the woman's de facto husband, also ScottCrump's father, was interviewed along with a number of friends and family members to tryto piece together the woman's mysterious death.
Police have searched through Ms Tomkinson's house at Glenwood, north of Gympie.
She was last seen alive on Monday, February 4 in the Gunalda and Glenwood areas.
