Fed: Howard confident WA Libs will make right decision on Hanson

Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD has expressed confidence that the West Australian Liberals
would do the right thing over One Nation preferences.

The WA Liberals have voted to allow candidates to direct preferences to One Nation
ahead of the ALP at the coming federal election.

The move is at odds with Mr HOWARD'S stand on One Nation.

The prime minister says the final decision would be up to the WA state Liberal executive
and he hopes the party will reverse the decision.

But he says it's important to respect the state branch's right to make the decision.
