The USS Albany controversy comes all the way home for 10th Ward Alderman Thomas Burch today, as protesters upset with his reaction to opponents of the submarine's christening plan a demonstration in front of his house.
"We'll be demanding an apology for his remarks," said John Dieffenbacher-Krall, a protest organizer.
Burch attracted attention by comments he made during the June 1 Common Council meeting. At that session, the council approved a resolution proclaiming June 13 USS Albany Day to support the launching of a Navy attack submarine that will be christened the Albany in ceremonies at Newport News, Va.
