NSW: Man charged for allegedly trying to smuggle bird eggs

A French national has been charged with smuggling .. after he was allegedly caught
at Sydney airport with 23 bird eggs strapped to his vest.

Customs officers searched the 48-year-old when he arrived from Thailand.

They say the eggs .. which have been placed in an incubator .. haven't yet been identified.

The man will face Central Local Court today .. charged with with importing regulated
live specimens without a permit.

He's also accused of making a false statement to Customs officers.
